TCNJ's Garcia-Beltran, NJCU's Ogina, Montclair State's Martinez Earn NJAC Women's Outdoor Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's outdoor track & field weekly honors for the week ending March 29.
 

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LUCIA GARCIA-BELTRAN • The College of New Jersey
Senior • Hopewell, N.J. / Hopewell Valley Central
 
Garcia-Beltran claims NJAC Track Athlete of the Week honors after posting two of the fastest times in the country at the Emory Thrills in the Hills meet. She ran an 11.75 in the 100 meters — the second-fastest time in school history — and followed with a 24.55 in the 200 meters, also the second-fastest in program history. Both marks currently rank second in NCAA Division III.
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
TONNA OGINA • New Jersey City University
Senior • North Brunswick, N.J. / Highland Park
 
Ogina is named NJAC Field Athlete of the Week after setting a new NJCU outdoor high jump record with a mark of 1.73 meters at the Ramapo Invitational. The leap currently ranks first in NCAA Division III. She also competed in the long jump, finishing second with a mark of 4.97 meters.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MICEL MARTINEZ • Montclair State University
Freshman • Union City, N.J. / Union City
 
Martinez earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors after making history at the Ramapo Track & Field Invitational. The freshman cleared 1.68 meters in the high jump to break the Montclair State school record, a mark that currently ranks third in NCAA Division III.
