PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's outdoor track & field weekly honors for the week ending April 19.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
NYLA JONES • Rowan University
Sophomore • Sicklerville, NJ / Timber Creek
Jones has been named NJAC Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after a record-breaking performance at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational. The sophomore set personal records in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles on the same day. In the 100 hurdles, she clocked a 13.92 — the sixth-fastest mark in Division III this year — eclipsing the previous program record of 14.02 set in 2019. She was equally impressive in the 400 hurdles, posting a 1:00.26 that ranks fifth in Division III this season and breaks her own program record of 1:00.42 set last year. Jones also contributed a leg on the 4x400 relay, helping Rowan post a 3:56.33 that stands as the top time in the NJAC this season.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
AVA REARDON • Rowan University
Junior • Franklinville, NJ / Delsea Regional
Reardon claimed NJAC Field Athlete of the Week honors after throwing a personal record 42.34 meters in the javelin at the University of Virginia Challenge, competing against Division I competition. The junior's mark currently ranks second in the NJAC and 13th in Division III this season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
JOIE BUXTON • Stockton University
Freshman • Galloway, NJ / Absegami
Buxton earned NJAC Rookie of the Week recognition after winning the javelin for the fifth time this season at the Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener University. The freshman threw 43.65 meters to claim the victory, a mark that ranks seventh nationally in Division III and first in both the Metro Region and the NJAC — leading the conference by more than four feet. This marks her second weekly award this season, having been named Field Athlete of the Week a few weeks prior.
