PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's outdoor track & field weekly honors for the week ending April 12.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LUCIA GARCIA-BELTRAN • The College of New Jersey
Senior • Hopewell, NJ / Hopewell Valley Central
Garcia-Beltran is named NJAC Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after posting two of the fastest times in Division III at the TCNJ Invitational & Multi. She clocked an 11.81 in the 100 meters and a 24.48 in the 200 meters. Her 200 meter time is the ninth-fastest in Division III and tops in both the region and conference, and she currently owns the fourth-fastest 100 meter time in D3 and best in both the region and conference.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ELAINA STYER • Stockton University
Junior • Estell Manor, NJ / Ocean City
Styer claimed her second and Stockton’s third NJAC Field Athlete of the Week honor this season after a record-setting performance in the heptathlon at the TCNJ Invitational & Multi. She totaled 5,050 points to set a school record, a mark that ranks second in Division III and first in both the Metro Region and NJAC this season. She also set a school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a 14.23, which ranks eighth in Division III and leads both the region and conference.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
DENIRAH JONES • Rowan University
Freshman • Camden, NJ / Woodbury
Jones earned NJAC Rookie of the Week recognition after a standout multi-event performance at the Oscar Moore Invite. She posted a 12.59 in the 100 meters — the top freshman time in the NJAC — and ran the first leg of Rowan's 4x100 relay team, which clocked a 48.06, the second-fastest time in the conference and third in the Metro Region this season. She also recorded a long jump of 5.52 meters, which ranks in the top 35 nationally, third in the region, and second in the conference.
