PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its women's lacrosse weekly award winners for the week ending March 22.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ELAINA CORSON • Rowan University
Senior • Attack • Hainesport, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional
Corson earns NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this year after a dominant 14-goal, three-assist week that powered No. 19 Rowan to a 2-0 record on its southern road swing. The senior posted a season-high nine goals to go with two assists in an 18-5 victory at Sewanee on Tuesday, then followed with five goals and an assist in a 17-12 win at Rhodes on Thursday. Corson also contributed four ground balls, five caused turnovers, and four draw controls across the two contests. She leads the NJAC in points (51), points per game (6.38), goals (40), and goals per game (5.00).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MADISON ROTHWEIN • Rowan University
Sophomore • Midfield • Mount Royal, NJ/Kingsway Regional
Rothwein claims NJAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time after anchoring the No. 19 Profs' midfield in a 2-0 week against Sewanee and Rhodes. The sophomore totaled seven caused turnovers, 10 draw controls, and seven ground balls across the two victories. She was at her best in Tuesday's 18-5 win at Sewanee, recording five caused turnovers, five ground balls, and nine draw controls while also chipping in three goals. Rothwein added two more caused turnovers and three more goals – including the game winner - in Thursday's 17-12 defeat of Rhodes. Rothwein currently leads the NJAC in draw controls (50) and draws per game (6.25), and is third in both total caused turnovers (22) and caused turnovers per game (2.75).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ABBY WILLIAMS • The College of New Jersey
Freshman • Defense • Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown
Williams garners NJAC Rookie of the Week recognition for the first time after a stellar defensive week in victories over No. 24 Babson and Roanoke. The freshman posted three caused turnovers in each contest, collecting six for the week to go with four ground balls. Her three ground balls in Saturday's 13-11 win over the Maroons helped TCNJ close out a competitive matchup. Williams leads the Lions and ranks fourth in the NJAC with 15 caused turnovers on the season.
