Stockton's Marinello and Soltys, Rowan's Corkhill Earn NJAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its women's lacrosse weekly award winners for the week ending April 5.
 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ISABELLA MARINELLO • Stockton University
Senior • Attack • West Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell
 
Marinello has been named NJAC Offensive Player of the Week after tying her own single-game record with a 10-point performance in Stockton's 20-2 conference victory over Kean on Wednesday. The senior attacker recorded five goals and five assists on seven shots with a .857 shooting percentage. Marinello leads the Ospreys with 29 goals on the season and is tied for first on the team with 40 points, ranking 10th in the NJAC with a 3.33 points-per-game average.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LEAH CORKHILL • Rowan University

Corkhill earns NJAC Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the back line for No. 15 Rowan in a pair of victories that extended the Profs' winning streak to six games. The senior defender tallied five caused turnovers and four ground balls across wins over Catholic and No. 22 Christopher Newport. Corkhill was at her best in the 14-12 victory over the Captains, collecting three caused turnovers and two ground balls while shutting down CNU's top scorer down the stretch while the Profs engineered the late-game push for the win. She added two caused turnovers and two ground balls in a 13-9 win over Catholic.

Freshman • Midfield • Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit
 
Soltys claims NJAC Rookie of the Week honors after a complete performance in Stockton's 20-2 conference win over Kean on Wednesday. The freshman midfielder scored two goals and added two assists for four points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting clip, including the game-winning goal. Soltys also made her mark on the defensive end, leading the team with seven caused turnovers while scooping four ground balls. She is tied for the team lead with 40 points on the season and ranks first in the NJAC in caused turnovers per game (3.42), third in ground balls per game (3.83), seventh in draw controls per game (3.92), and ninth in assists per game (1.33).
