PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its women's lacrosse weekly award winners for the week ending March 8.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CJ KOLE • The College of New Jersey
Junior • Attack • Asbury, NJ/North Hunterdon
Kole is selected as NJAC Offensive Player of the Week after a dominant two-game stretch that saw her rack up 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points in a pair of convincing Lions victories. She set career highs in both points (11) and assists (6) during Wednesday's 17-5 win at Moravian, scoring five times on six shots while collecting six draw controls. Only the 10th player in program history to record at least 11 points in a single game, Kole followed that up with five goals and an assist in Saturday's 16-7 defeat of Ursinus, adding three draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls. She converted all five of her free-position attempts on the week and totaled nine draw controls across the two contests.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MADISON ROTHWEIN • Rowan University
Sophomore • Midfielder • Mount Royal, NJ/Kingsway Regional
Rothwein garners NJAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition after a complete two-way performance in a 2-0 week for the No. 23 Profs, highlighted by a 13-11 road victory over No. 14 Stevens. Rothwein totaled 12 draw controls, five caused turnovers, and 10 ground balls across the two games, controlling possession on both ends of the field. She also contributed four goals on the offensive end, including the go-ahead tally in the fourth quarter against Stevens that broke a 10-10 tie. Against Ursinus, she posted eight draw controls and three caused turnovers in a 15-7 win. Rothwein leads the team with 23 draw controls on the season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
CAYLA WURZ • Kean University
Freshman • Attack • Perkasie, PA/Pennridge
Wurz has been named NJAC Rookie of the Week after totaling nine goals and two assists for 11 points across three games for the Cougars. She turned in a spectacular six-goal effort in Friday's contest against Marywood, connecting on seven of eight shots in the game. Earlier in the week, she tallied three goals and an assist in a 10-7 victory over Drew, converting on five of six shots. Wurz posted an 82.4-percent shot-on-goal rate for the week.
