Salisbury's Mahoney, TCNJ's Kosukhin and Beverini Earn NJAC Men's Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its men's swimming & diving weekly honors for the week ending Jan. 25.
 

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
OWEN MAHONEY • Salisbury University
Freshman • Arnold, MD/Broadneck
 
Mahoney earns his first and Salisbury’s fifth NJAC Swimmer of the Week honor after capturing two individual titles in the Sea Gulls’ victory at Catholic on Saturday. The freshman – also a two-time Rookie of the Week – won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:06.52 before establishing a new program record in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 9:35.11. His 1,000 free sits as the fastest time in the NJAC this season and ranks 20th in NCAA Division III, while his 400 IM stands seventh in the conference.
 
DIVER OF THE WEEK
JOSHUA KOSUKHIN • The College of New Jersey
Sophomore • Princeton, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro
 
Kosukhin becomes the second Lion this year to earn NJAC Diver of the Week recognition after a dominant performance on 1-meter during TCNJ's sweep of two dual meets. The sophomore claimed first place on 1-meter with a score of 217.28 in Thursday's 194-68 victory over Swarthmore before adding a second-place finish on 3-meter with 208.50 points. He followed with a third-place showing on 1-meter (173.25) and fourth on 3-meter (121.28) in Friday's 224-74 triumph over Montclair State. Kosukhin's 1-meter score of 217.28 ranks fourth in the NJAC and tops on the TCNJ squad, while his 3-meter score of 208.50 sits fifth in the conference and second at TCNJ.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
GABE BEVERINI • The College of New Jersey
Freshman • Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge
 
Beverini claims NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this year after capturing three individual titles in TCNJ's dual meet sweep. The freshman won the 200 freestyle in 1:40.86 and the 200 individual medley in 1:53.90 while placing third in the 100 breaststroke (58.51) in Thursday's 194-68 victory over Swarthmore. He followed with a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle (47.20) and a second-place showing in the 50 freestyle (22.13) in Friday's 224-74 triumph over Montclair State, also contributing to the winning 200 medley relay. Beverini owns the NJAC's second-fastest times in both the 200 freestyle and 200 IM, plus the conference's fourth-fastest 100 freestyle.
