TCNJ's Hoban and Beverini, Merchant Marine's Cable Earn NJAC Men's Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its men's swimming & diving weekly honors for the week ending Jan. 11.
 

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
MJ HOBAN • The College of New Jersey
Sophomore • Newark, DE/Sanford School
 
Hoban earned NJAC Swimmer of the Week honors after winning the 50 freestyle and placing second in the 100 freestyle at meets against No. 14 Johns Hopkins and Washington & Lee. The sophomore touched the wall in 20.96 seconds to claim first in the 50 free and clocked 46.14 in the 100 free. He also posted the fastest splits in both relay events, swimming 44.32 on the freestyle leg of the 400 medley relay and 20.27 in the 200 freestyle relay. Hoban currently owns the NJAC's fastest 100 freestyle time and fourth-fastest 50 freestyle time this season while ranking among the nation's top 50 in both events.
 
DIVER OF THE WEEK
THOMAS CABLE • United States Merchant Marine Academy
Senior • Litchfield Park, AZ/Verrado
 
Cable claimed NJAC Diver of the Week recognition after hitting NCAA qualifying marks in both diving events during the Mariners' road victory over Division II Southern Connecticut State on Friday. The senior scored 286.20 to win the 3-meter dive and posted 300.75 for second place in the 1-meter event, officially qualifying for the NCAA Diving Regional Championships later this season. Cable owns the second-highest 1-meter and 3-meter scores in the NJAC this season.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
GABE BEVERINI • The College of New Jersey
Freshman • Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge
 
Beverini was named NJAC Rookie of the Week after a strong performance in multiple events at meets against No. 14 Johns Hopkins and Washington & Lee. The freshman placed second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:55.38 and fifth in both breaststroke events (58.05 in the 100, 2:09.04 in the 200). He also swam the breaststroke leg of the 400 medley relay, posting a split of 57.91. Beverini owns the NJAC's second-fastest 200 IM time this season and ranks in the top seven in the conference in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
