TCNJ's Hoban, USMMA's Kov, Salisbury's Byrd, TCNJ Staff Earn Major Awards; NJAC Men's Swimming & Diving All-Conference Announced

PITMAN, NJ --- The College of New Jersey sophomore M.J. Hoban (Newark, DE/Sanford School) has been named the NJAC Swimmer of the Year to headline this year's slate of men's swimming and diving all-conference honorees.

United States Merchant Marine Academy freshman Carter Kov (Goodyear, AZ/BASIS Goodyear) was tabbed NJAC Diver of the Year and Salisbury University freshman Cameron Byrd (Bear, DE/St. Mark's) earns the NJAC Rookie of the Year award. TCNJ head coach Dave Dow and his staff was voted as the NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

All major awards were selected by a vote of the conference's 10 head coaches and take into account the body of work for the entire 2025-26 season. The all-conference teams were determined by place finish at this year's NJAC Swimming & Diving Championship meet.

Hoban earned All-America honors in four events at the NCAA Division III Championships. He placed sixth in the 50 freestyle to earn First Team All-America accolades and ninth in the 100 freestyle for Second Team All-America honors. He was also the anchor of two TCNJ relays that earned First Team All-America recognition at nationals, finishing sixth in the 200 medley relay and seventh in the 400 medley relay. Hoban additionally competed in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay at nationals. At the NJAC Championships, Hoban swept the 50 and 100 freestyle titles and was a member of four gold-medal relays — the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 200 medley, and 400 medley— all of which set new championship meet records. Hoban was named the NJAC Swimmer of the Week in Week 11.

Kov claims NJAC Diver of the Year honors after a standout debut season. He swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at the NJAC Championships, setting a new championship meet record on the 3-meter board with 506.75 points. At the NCAA Division III Championships, Kov placed fifth on the 1-meter board with 486.60 points to earn First Team All-America honors and competed on the 3-meter board, finishing 11th with 483.70 points for Second Team All-America recognition. Kov earned four NJAC Diver of the Week honors and was named the Week 12 NJAC Rookie of the Week.

Byrd made an immediate impact in his first collegiate season at Salisbury. He earned Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Championships with a 15th-place finish in the 100 butterfly and also competed in the 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley at nationals. He was also a member of the Salisbury 400 medley relay that competed at the national meet. At the NJAC Championships, Byrd earned silver medals in the 100 and 200 butterfly and was a member of four silver-medal relays, including the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, 800 freestyle relay, and 400 medley relay. Byrd was named the Week 3 NJAC Rookie of the Week.

TCNJ head coach Dave Dow, along with assistants Eric Blevins, Webster Bozzo, Steven Paterno, and Ryan Higgins, earn the NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year honor as voted on by their peers. They guided TCNJ to its third straight NJAC Championship meet title in the conference’s third-ever championship meet and an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championships with 117 points, moving up six spots from a year ago. At the NJAC Championships, TCNJ set five championship meet records, including the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay, and 400 medley relay.
