PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its field hockey weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 28.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JULIA DENNEHY • William Paterson University
Sophomore • Forward • Norwalk, CT/Norwalk
Dennehy garnered NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after finding the back of the cage twice during William Paterson's 2-0 road victory at Albright on September 24. This marked first multi-goal game of the season and the second of her career. The sophomore forward's performance helped the Pioneers earn their first win of the year. She currently has five points on two goals and an assist this season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TESS HERMAN • Rowan University
Senior • Back • Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional
Herman was selected as NJAC Defensive Player of the Week following her anchoring of a stingy Rowan defense that allowed just one goal across two victories while contributing offensively with a goal and an assist in the 7-0 rout of Arcadia. The senior back provided the helper on the match's opening goal, which proved to be the game-winner, marking her second multiple-point performance of the season for the 18th-ranked Profs. Herman is up to seven points on three goals and an assist this season and is leading a Prof defense that is currently third in the NJAC in scoring defense.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
SYDNEY KOWALCZYK • Rowan University
Sophomore • Midfield • Medford, NJ/Moorestown
Kowalczyk became the third different Prof this season to capture NJAC Rookie of the Week recognition after netting a pair of goals in Rowan's 7-0 shutout of Arcadia, including the match's opening score that stood as the game-winner. The sophomore midfielder leads the NJAC in scoring with eight goals and one assist for 17 points on the season as Rowan improved to 6-3 overall.
