WPU's Stoner, Rowan's Herman and Kowalczyk Earn NJAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its field hockey weekly honors for the week ending Oct. 5.
 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ALI STONER • William Paterson University
Sophomore • Forward • Branchville, NJ/High Point
 
Stoner becomes the second Pioneer in as many weeks to earn NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors as she exploded for four goals and one assist during a 1-1 week for the Pioneers. The sophomore forward recorded her first collegiate hat trick in a dominant 4-0 home victory over Cedar Crest on Oct. 1, then added another goal and an assist in a matchup against No. 9 Stevens on Oct. 3, totaling nine points on the week. Stoner currently ranks second among all NJAC players with seven goals this year and is tied for second in the conference with 16 points.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TESS HERMAN • Rowan University

Herman captured NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time in as many weeks. She anchored Rowan's backline during a perfect 2-0 week while contributing offensively with two assists. The senior defender set up the opening goal in a 5-1 victory at Messiah and provided the crucial assist that tied the score at 2-2 in a thrilling 4-3 overtime win against Lynchburg, helping freshman goalkeeper Ella Morton secure her first career start victory. Herman is tied for fourth in the NJAC with three assists this year.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
SYDNEY KOWALCZYK • Rowan University
Freshman • Midfielder • Medford, NJ/Moorestown
 
Kowalczyk earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time after she continued her impressive debut season with three goals and one assist during Rowan's undefeated week. The freshman midfielder netted two goals in the 5-1 triumph at Messiah—her third multi-goal performance of the year—and added the game-tying goal in the dramatic overtime victory over Lynchburg. She now leads the NJAC in goals (11), points (24), and game-winning goals (4).
