GENEVA, OH --- More All-America honors were earned by NJAC student-athletes on the second day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Rowan racked up four All-America honors and qualified three athletes for Saturday's finals, while Stockton's Kayla Kass kept her national title hopes alive with a solid performance in the 800 meters.
Rowan’s Izzy Deal added another accolade to her impressive national meet performance, placing sixth in the shot put with a mark of 14.02 meters. The result earned her First Team All-America honors, her second All-America recognition of the week after finishing 12th in the javelin on Thursday.
In the men’s high jump, Rowan showcased its depth with three athletes placing in the top 16. Jamile Gantt cleared 2.11 meters to tie for third and secure First Team All-America status. Teammate Noah Wampole joined him on the podium with a tie for sixth at 2.05 meters, also earning First Team All-America honors. Rounding out the trio, Arrington Rhym cleared 2.00 meters to tie for 13th and collect a Second Team All-America nod.
The Profs also dominated the 110 meter hurdles prelims, advancing three entrants to Saturday’s final. Jason Agyemang led the field with the fastest qualifying time of 13.93 seconds, while Jamir Brown clocked 14.00 to rank second. Anaias Hughes sits seventh in the prelims with a 14.34.
Kayla Kass of Stockton ran a 2:11.37 to finish ninth in the prelims and claim the final qualifying spot for Saturday’s championship race. The junior will look to close out her season with a podium finish.
