TCNJ MEN CAPTURE THE 2011-12 NJAC SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP

EWING—The College of New Jersey’s men’s swimming & diving team recorded a 169-103 victory over rival Rowan on January 28 to claim the 2011-12 New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship. The Lion men finished their conference schedule with a perfect 4-0 record for the fourth consecutive season.

The victory gave the TCNJ men their sixth NJAC swimming & diving championship in program history, and their sixth straight conference crown since 1993-94. Due to a lack of institutional sport sponsorship, men’s swimming & diving was not recognized as a conference championship sport from a period of 1996 to 2008.

Since the NJAC does not sponsor a championship meet in the sport of swimming & diving, the conference title is awarded to the team with the best record in league dual-meet competition. The Lions claimed their fourth consecutive title since the return of NJAC men’s swimming & diving with victories over Ramapo (151-99 on October 29), Montclair State (164-108 on November 4), William Paterson (183-99 on January 21), and Rowan (169-103 on January 28).
