WPU's Funiciello, Rowan's Baker, TCNJ's Daley Earn NJAC Women's Soccer Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's soccer weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 27.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MARIA FUNICIELLO • William Paterson University
Senior • Midfielder • Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley

Funiciello becomes the second Pioneer this season to be named NJAC Offensive Player of the Week after sparking William Paterson's 2-1 come-from-behind win at Sarah Lawrence. The Pioneers were outshot 20-4, but Funiciello made their chances count, factoring into both goals. With William Paterson trailing 1-0, the senior midfielder set up the equalizer. She then buried the game-winner in the 61st minute for her first goal of the season. Funiciello played all 90 minutes and put two of her three shots on goal.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MAKALA BAKER • Rowan University
Junior • Defender • Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown

Baker earned her first and Rowan’s second NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season after anchoring #6 Rowan's back line in a 1-0 road win at #8 Messiah in top-10 clash. The junior defender played all 90 minutes as the Profs limited the Falcons to seven shots and just one on goal. The shutout was Rowan's fourth clean sheet of the season as the Profs have allowed just one goal through September.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ISABELLA DALEY • The College of New Jersey
Freshman • Defender • North Brunswick, NJ/Notre Dame

Daley claims NJAC Rookie of the Week after anchoring TCNJ's back line through two shutouts in a 1-0-1 week. The freshman center back played 176 of a possible 180 minutes as the Lions allowed just three shots on goal combined. TCNJ held Stevens to three shots on goal in a 0-0 draw. The Lions then kept a high-powered Berry offense without a shot on goal in a 3-0 blanking. Berry had scored 32 goals in its previous six games.
