PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's volleyball weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 13.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
NICOLE PALMER • Stockton University
Senior • Right Side/Setter • Islip Terrace, NY / East Islip
Palmer claimed NJAC Player of the Week after filling the stat sheet across the board in Stockton's 3-0 week, leading the team in kills (45, 4.09 per set), hitting percentage (.381) and digs (34, 3.09 per set) while adding eight assists, five blocks and four aces. The senior hit .500 against Ursinus and .467 against Wilkes, then posted her third double-double of the year with 14 kills and 16 digs in a five-set win over Randolph-Macon. Palmer currently leads all NJAC players in both kills (4.16/set) and points (4.66/set).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ABIGAIL BIVONA • Rowan University
Sophomore • Middle Hitter • Frenchtown, NJ / Delaware Valley
Bivona has been named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 1.71 blocks per set — 12 total, two of them solo — to help power a 3-0 sweep at the Neumann Knights Invitational. The sophomore middle hitter posted six blocks in a sweep of Arcadia and five more against Ursinus, while also contributing on the other side of the ball with 12 kills on the week, including a .800 hitting percentage in the win over Ursinus, as Rowan went unbeaten on the weekend. Bivona currently leads the NJAC in blocks per set (1.20) and is second in hitting percentage (.372).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
SARA ROGERS • William Paterson University
Freshman • Setter • Dacula, GA / Mill Creek
Rogers earned NJAC Rookie of the Week after compiling 79 assists — 6.08 per set — with 18 digs and seven service aces during a challenging week for the Pioneers. The freshman setter posted a double-double with a career-high 33 assists and 13 digs in a five-set battle with a William Smith squad that is receiving votes in the national poll. She also handed out a match-high 28 assists in a win over Centenary and earlier in the weekend posted 18 assists and two digs against No. 22 Christopher Newport. The rookie currently ranks seventh in the NJAC with 5.30 assists per set.
