A four-time All-NJAC quarterback, Hesson was the 1990 NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Year before earning back-to-back NJAC Offensive Player of the Year honors in 1992 and 1993. He led the Profs to three straight NJAC titles and NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 1992 national semifinals and 1993 NCAA Championship Game. The Rowan Hall of Famer finished his career with 7,035 passing yards and 67 touchdowns.

In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, the NJAC will name its Top 70 Student-Athletes in the 70-year history of the conference. All selections were made by a panel comprised of current and former athletic administrators, current and former athletic communications personnel, conference office staff, and media. Consideration was limited to full-member institution student-athletes who competed in sports currently sponsored by the NJAC.
