NJCU's Fitzpatrick, Rutgers-Newark's Long, Kean's Torok Earn NJAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's volleyball weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 7.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KAI FITZPATRICK • New Jersey City University
Freshman • Outside Hitter • Hillsborough, NJ / Hillsborough

Fitzpatrick earned NJAC Player of the Week honors after powering NJCU to a 2-0 week with a pair of standout performances. The freshman outside hitter piled up 39 kills (4.88/set), 43 points (5.38/set), and 22 digs (2.75/set), while hitting .346 across the two matches. She racked up 24 kills and 14 digs in a five-set win over Cairn, and added 15 kills on .619 hitting in a sweep of Pratt. Fitzpatrick also contributed three aces, two assists, and a block, finishing the week with 43 total points. She currently leads the NJAC in kills (4.31/set) and points (5.19/set), and is second in service aces (0.77/set).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CYAN LONG • Rutgers-Newark
Freshman • Libero • Ft. Lauderdale, FL / South Plantation

Cyan Long secured NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after anchoring Rutgers-Newark’s back row in a 2-1 weekend. The freshman libero totaled 59 digs across three matches, averaging 4.92 per set. She posted 22 digs in a five-set win over Penn State Abington, followed with 26 in a tight five-setter against Albright, and capped the weekend with 11 more in a sweep of CCNY. Long currently ranks second in the NJAC in digs (4.77/set).

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ASHLEY TOROK • Kean University
Freshman • Outside Hitter • Woodbridge, NJ / Woodbridge

Ashley Torok collected NJAC Rookie of the Week recognition after delivering double-digit kills in all three of Kean’s wins. The freshman outside hitter totaled 34 kills (3.09/set), 21 digs (1.91/set), 12 service aces, and five blocks across the weekend. She just missed a triple-double in the win over Nazareth with 11 kills, 9 aces, and 8 digs, and added 13 kills in a four-set win over Shenandoah. Torok closed the week with 48.5 points, averaging 4.41 per set. She currently ranks third in the NJAC in kills (3.56/set) and points (4.36/set).
