Kean's O'Brien and Torok, William Paterson's Demers Earn NJAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's volleyball weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 21.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ASPEN O'BRIEN • Kean University
Senior • Setter • McHenry, IL/McHenry Community
 
O'Brien captures NJAC Player of the Week honors after leading Kean to their eighth straight victory with four wins over two days at the Kean Invitational. The senior setter recorded a career-high 61 assists and set a school record (in the 25-point era) during a thrilling five-set victory over Salisbury on Saturday morning. O'Brien totaled 152 assists across the four matches while contributing eight kills, six service aces, and 32 digs. Her outstanding weekend performance earned her Kean Invitational MVP recognition. She currently leads the NJAC by far in assists, averaging 11.05 per set.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BELLA DEMERS • William Paterson University
Sophomore • Libero • Maumee, OH/Maumee
 
Demers earns NJAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition after recording 56 digs during William Paterson's perfect 3-0 week. The sophomore libero averaged 5.09 digs per set while anchoring the Pioneers' back-row defense across 11 sets of play. Her standout performance came in a five-set road victory at Swarthmore where she tallied a career-high 32 digs in a William Paterson uniform. Demers also contributed nine assists and three service aces during the week. She currently leads the NJAC by nearly 1.3 digs per set, averaging 5.67.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ASHLEY TOROK • Kean University
Freshman • Outside Hitter • Woodbridge, NJ/Woodbridge
 
Torok claims NJAC Rookie of the Week honors after helping Kean capture four straight victories and the Kean Invitational title. The freshman outside hitter tallied 60 kills across the four matches, including a standout 25-kill performance in the five-set victory over Salisbury. Torok also contributed 32 digs, five service aces, and two blocks while averaging 4.62 kills per set throughout the tournament. She currently ranks second among all NJAC players with 4.61 points per set this season. She also ranks third in kills (3.88/set) and among the top 10 in service aces (0.56/set).
