PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's volleyball weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 14.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CAYLEY ELENA MORRISON • Kean University
Junior • Middle Hitter • Elizabeth, NJ / Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy
Morrison collects her first NJAC Player of the Week honor of the season after she helped power Kean to its seventh win of the season. The junior middle hitter put up a 20-kill performance while hitting .485. She added eight total blocks and contributed 25 points in the four-set match against Manhattanville College, giving the Valiants their first loss of the season. Morrison currently leads the NJAC in blocks (0.93/set) and is fourth in hitting percentage (.321) and sixth in points (3.65/set).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CIARA BRADLEY • Rowan University
Junior • Middle Hitter • Media, PA / Villa Maria Academy
Bradley picks up NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after she totaled 11 blocks (two solo) in a 3-0 week for the Profs. She opened with six kills, four digs, and four blocks in a sweep of Muhlenberg. In Saturday’s tri-match, she collected six blocks (one solo), three digs, two kills, and an ace in the win over Lebanon Valley. Bradley helped the Profs sweep all three matches last week. Bradley currently ranks sixth in the NJAC in blocks (0.74/set).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
KAI FITZPATRICK • New Jersey City University
Junior • Outside Hitter • Hillsborough, NJ / Hillsborough
Fitzpatrick earns her second weekly award, this time as the NJAC Rookie of the Week. The freshman standout set a career high with 27 kills while hitting .375 in a five-set win over Wilkes and followed that up with 20 kills against Penn State–Berks to help the Gothic Knights remain unbeaten. She was also stellar defensively, tallying 17 and 13 digs, respectively, while adding five total blocks. She recorded double-doubles in both matches and averaged 5.22 kills and 3.33 digs per set. Fitzpatrick currently leads all NJAC players in kills (4.68/set) and points (5.45/set), while ranking in the top 10 in digs, service aces, and hitting percentage.
