AUSTIN, Texas - TCNJ women's basketball's Nina Branchizio capped off her historic senior season with a selection to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Third Team, as released by the organization this afternoon. The soon-to-be graduate becomes just the third player in program history to be named an Academic All-American, joining Kimberly Lacken (1988) and Shannon Devitt (2021).
Branchizio was named to the Academic All-District Team for the third year in a row this past March, an honor awarded to student-athletes who have a minimum 3.50 GPA and meet high athletic standards. A select group of student-athletes then advance to the national ballot where CSC members vote on Academic All-America teams, with the senior earning a spot on the Third Team.
A speech pathology & audiology major with a 3.97 GPA, Branchizio put together the best season of her collegiate career in her final season. The senior averaged personal-best marks in points (12.7), assists (2.5) and steals (1.4) per game en route to being named the New Jersey Athletic Conference's Player of the Year – the fourth in program history – and earning a spot on the D3hoops.com All-Region First Team.
Branchizio served as one of the premier 3-point shooters in all of Division III, leading the NJAC and ranking sixth in the country in 3-pointers per game (3.19) while shooting 37% from behind the arc. The senior, who hit a three in all but one game this season, set TCNJ records for 3-pointers in a single season (86) as well as career 3-pointers (274), the latter of which had stood since 2000.
Along with her pair of program records, Branchizio ends her career ranked 13th on TCNJ's all-time scoring list (1,137) as well as 14
th in both assists (238) and steals (128).
