WPU's Walsh, Rowan's Carlies, Ramapo's Jones Earn NJAC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its women's basketball weekly award winners for the week ending Nov. 23.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PATTY WALSH • William Paterson University
Senior • Forward • Middletown, NJ/Middletown North
 
Walsh became the second Pioneer in as many weeks to earn NJAC honors after a well-rounded week as William Paterson won a pair of games. She averaged 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 47% from the floor. She posted 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds in a 56-51 home win against WestConn, then delivered a season-high 21 points on 60% shooting with eight rebounds and a season-best three blocks during an 83-61 road victory at John Jay. Walsh currently ranks fifth in the NJAC in rebounding (7.5 rpg) and field goal percentage (48.8%).
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Carlies claimed NJAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition after anchoring a defensive effort that held DeSales to 38 points (averaging 69 ppg) and Washington College to 53 points during a 2-0 week. She totaled 21 rebounds (15 defensive) and eight blocks across the two games, collecting six blocks and 11 rebounds against DeSales before adding 10 rebounds and two blocks versus Washington College. Carlies currently leads the NJAC in rebounding (10.0 rpg) and is second in blocks (2.8 bpg).
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
DENAY JONES • Ramapo College

Jones was named NJAC Rookie of the Week after leading Ramapo to a 2-0 week, averaging 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and four assists while logging over 33 minutes per game. She shot 45% from the field, 50% from three-point range, and 100% from the free-throw line while adding five steals and two blocks. Jones tallied 19 points, four assists, three steals, and a block against Baruch, then contributed eight points, four assists, two steals, and a block versus Medgar Evers. Jones currently ranks seventh among all NJAC players in steals (2.6 spg) and ninth in assists (2.8 apg).
