Farmingdale State's Maldonado and DeGraw, Montclair State's Acevedo Earn NJAC Women's Indoor Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's indoor track and field weekly honors for the week ending Dec. 15.
 

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LOAMY MALDONADO • Farmingdale State College
Junior • Brentwood, NJ/Brentwood
 
Maldonado is named NJAC Track Athlete of the Week for the first time after competing in the Art Kadish Elm City Challenge at Southern Connecticut State to wrap up the 2024 calendar year. She placed second in the 800 meter run at the meet. She currently ranks fifth in the NJAC in the 800.
 
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JULIA ACEVEDO • Montclair State University
Graduate Student • Florham Park, NJ/Mount Saint Dominic
 
Acevedo earns her first NJAC Field Athlete of the Week honor after a strong performance at the River Hawk Opener at Susquehanna. She accumulated 2,748 points in the pentathlon, posting the fourth-highest point total in program history in the event. Her pentathlon score is second-highest in the NJAC this season and ranks among the top 30 nationally. Over the course of the pentathlon, she posted the third-fastest 800 in the NJAC this season and moved up to seventh in the NJAC in the long jump.

Freshman • Kerhonkson, NY/Roundout Valley
 
DeGraw collects her first NJAC Rookie of the Week honor after leading Farmingdale State at the Art Kadish Elm City Challenge at Southern Connecticut State to wrap up the 2024 calendar year. She placed second in the shot put, tossing the NJAC’s best throw of the season so far and third-best in the Metro Region (12.18m). That throw ranks second in school history and meets the regional qualifying standard. She also threw 11.61m in the weight throw, good for sixth in FSC history and sixth in the NJAC this season.
