2022 NJAC Men's Tennis Championship Central
PITMAN, NJ --- The College of New Jersey and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis teams have advanced to the NJAC Men's Tennis Championship match after wrapping up divisional titles on Sunday, April 24.
Team champions were awarded for both the East and West Divisions last year, but this is the first season that the East and West winners will meet for the NJAC's first-ever automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament.
The Lions and Warhawks will meet in Whitewater on Saturday, May 7, at 12:00 PM Central (1:00 PM Eastern).
The Warhawks are ranked No. 8 in the Central Region, led by individually ranked players John Zakowski (7th Central) and Cole Lindwall (20th Central) along with doubles team Zakowski and Alex Gray (6th Central). The Lions are ranked 13th in the Northeast Region, with Justin Wain ranked 21st in the region and Wain and Matthew Michibata ranked 14th as a doubles team.
The Warhawks finished 3-0 in the NJAC West Division, defeating UW-La Crosse 8-1 on April 15, UW-Eau Claire 6-3 on April 23, and SUNY Oneonta 9-0 on April 24. The Lions finished 3-0 in the NJAC East Division, defeating Rutgers-Camden 9-0 on April 2, Ramapo 9-0 on April 8, and NJCU 8-1 on April 24.
