PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its football weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 20.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DARIO BELIZAIRE • Salisbury University
Senior • Slotback • Cambridge, MD/Cambridge
Belizaire has been named NJAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading Salisbury's offense in a 43-13 win over Washington & Lee. The senior racked up 90 rushing yards on seven carries and added four receptions for 112 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown catch that stood as the longest play from scrimmage for the Sea Gulls this season. Belizaire is currently averaging 68.5 reception yards and 58.0 rushing yards per game.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DYLAN LYERLY • Salisbury University
Junior • Defensive Back • Fairfax, VA/Fairfax
Lyerly earned NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after pacing the Sea Gulls with a team-high 12 tackles in a 43-13 win over Washington & Lee. The junior defensive back also blocked an extra point attempt as No. 14 Salisbury's defense helped seal the victory. Lyerly currently ranks third in the NJAC with 9.5 tackles per game.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ZACH DRAGON • Vermont State University-Castleton
Freshman • Kicker • Sudbury, VT/Otter Valley Union
Dragon has been selected as NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week after converting both of his field goal attempts in Castleton's 40-0 win over Maine Maritime, including a 40-yarder that was the program's first from that distance in five years. The first-year kicker also went 4-of-5 on extra point tries. Dragon currently leads all NJAC kickers with 17 points (5.7 per game) on the season.
