TCNJ's Matthews, Rowan's Gantt, MSU's Hantsoulis Earn Final NJAC Men's Outdoor Weekly Honors of 2026

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its men's outdoor track & field weekly honors for the week ending April 26.
 

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
KEVIN MATTHEWS • The College of New Jersey
Senior • Flanders, NJ/Pope John XXIII
 
Matthews collects the final NJAC Track Athlete of the Week honor of the season after he led the Lions’ distance medley relay to an historic run at the 130th Penn Relays. He posted a split of 3:00.28 in the opening 1200, setting a strong mark to help propel the Lions to a combined 9:53.29 – the best time in NCAA Division III this season by over three seconds and the sixth-best all-time mark in D3 history. Matthews – along with Isaiah Muse, Thomas Blach, and Brandon Chen – took down a 21-year-old program outdoor DMR record as well. The Lions were the top D3 squad in the DMR race, and topped five Division I squads in the process including UMBC, Princeton, Lehigh, Bucknell, and Stony Brook.
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JAMILE GANTT • Rowan University
Junior • Paulsboro, NJ/Paulsboro
 
Gantt is named the final NJAC Field Athlete of the Week of the season for his performance at the 130th Penn Relays. He took third in the high jump with a season-best-tying 2.06 meter clear, which ranks as the tenth-highest jump in NCAA Division III this season. Gantt has cleared the two-meter height in every meet dating back to last year’s NCAA Championships.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MARKOS HANTSOULIS • Montclair State University
Freshman • Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park
 
Hantsoulis earns the final NJAC Rookie of the Week nod of the season after yet another terrific performance, this time at the Penn Relays. As the only Division III thrower in the javelin at Penn, he threw 59.18 meters to place eighth in the field. Hantsoulis heads into postseason meets ranked fourth in NCAA Division III.
