PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its women's tennis weekly award winners for the week ending April 19.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ZOEY ALBERT • The College of New Jersey
Junior • Millers Creek, NC / Acellus Academy
Albert garners NJAC Player of the Week honors after going 8-0 across singles and doubles play as the Lions knocked off a pair of top-35 teams and clinched another NJAC regular-season title. The junior went 4-0 at number two singles, all in straight sets, before teaming with Shruti Mannan to go 4-0 at number one doubles. In conference play, Albert conceded just two games at number two singles, defeating her Rutgers-Camden and Stockton opponents without dropping a set. She and Mannan also went 6-2 against Rutgers-Camden and 6-0 against Stockton at number one doubles. Albert capped the week with a 7-6 (2) doubles victory over Haverford and a 6-3 triumph over Stevens.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ANGELA LEONARDIS • Kean University
Freshman • Roselle Park, NJ / Roselle Park
Leonardis has been selected as NJAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after going 3-1 on the week with a dominant showing at first singles. The freshman delivered a commanding 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Rutgers-Camden's top singles player in conference play before adding a doubles victory alongside Ashley Mendoza-Tarazona against Trinity Washington. Leonardis also posted a 6-0, 6-0 singles win over Trinity Washington on the week.
