Rowan's Bogart, WPU's Nathan, MSU's O'Brien, Stockton's Kowalewski Earn NJAC Baseball Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its baseball weekly award winners for the week ending April 12.
 


PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOEY BOGART • Rowan University
Sophomore • Second Base • Sicklerville, NJ / Gloucester Catholic
 
Bogart has been named NJAC Player of the Week after batting .611 with 11 hits, 10 runs scored and six RBI in a 5-0 week for sixth-ranked Rowan. He delivered the biggest hit of his week in the ninth inning of an 11-8 win at Rutgers-Camden on Thursday, lacing an RBI double to break an 8-8 tie and cap a three-run rally that secured the victory. He followed that up with a 4-for-6 effort with three runs and three RBI as the Profs set a school record with 29 runs in a 29-11 win over Rutgers-Camden the following day. Bogart ranks tied for second in conference-only runs scored (16), tied for fifth in conference-only hits (17), and is sixth in conference-only batting average (.486).
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
ROB NATHAN • William Paterson University
Junior • Pitcher • Lords Valley, PA / Vernon Township
 
Nathan claimed NJAC Pitcher of the Week honors after delivering one of the most dominant performances of the conference season, tossing a complete-game victory at No. 7 Kean on Saturday. He struck out a season-best nine batters while allowing just five hits and three unearned runs in the 8-3 win, walking only one batter across nine innings. Nathan held the Cougars to a .156 batting average on the day to pick up his second win of the year. He currently ranks third among NJAC pitchers in conference-only ERA (2.65).
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
DANNY O'BRIEN • Montclair State University
Freshman • Infielder • The Woodlands, TX / The Woodlands Christian Academy
 
O'Brien has been selected as NJAC Rookie of the Week for the second time after an impressive week in conference play, leading Montclair State with a .563 batting average and eight RBI during a 3-1 week. The freshman recorded hits in three of his four appearances and drove in at least one run in three of his outings. He was at his best in the second game of a doubleheader against TCNJ on Saturday, going 4-for-5 with five RBI and two runs scored to power a 13-1 Montclair victory. He also contributed in the opener of that twin bill, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in a 13-5 win. Earlier in the week against Kean, O'Brien went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in an 8-6 conference victory. He also added two stolen bases on the week. The rookie ranks among the top five in both conference-only hits (17) and RBI (17).
 
ROOKIE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
NICK KOWALEWSKI • Stockton University
Freshman • Pitcher • Point Pleasant, NJ / Point Pleasant Boro
 
Kowalewski captured NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing eight shutout innings to earn the first victory of his collegiate career against TCNJ on Thursday. He held the Lions to just three hits while striking out four in Stockton's 14-0 shutout victory. The rookie currently ranks seventh among all NJAC pitchers in both conference-only ERA (3.18) and opponent batting average (.227).
