PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its men's volleyball weekly award winners for the week ending March 8.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JAN TRACZ • Ramapo College
Sophomore • Right Side • Manchester, NJ/Manchester
Tracz has been named NJAC Player of the Week after a prolific offensive showing for the Roadrunners. The sophomore hit .500 with 34 kills (4.86/set) across two matches. He was at his best in a five-set battle against Baruch on Wednesday, pounding 25 kills on a .450 clip while adding eight digs in the marathon match. Earlier in the week, he opened with nine kills on .643 hitting in a 3-0 sweep of Valley Forge. Tracz also contributed 10 digs (1.43/set) and three blocks (0.43/set) on the week. He currently ranks third in the NJAC in both kills (3.38/set) and points (3.93/set) on the season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DAVID FLORES • Kean University
Senior • Setter • Parlin, NJ/Old Bridge
Flores claims NJAC Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the Cougars' back row across two matches. The senior recorded 20 digs (2.86/set) while adding three blocks (0.43/set) on the week. He also ran the Kean offense at a high level, distributing 58 assists (8.29/set), including a 27-assist effort in a 3-0 sweep of Bard on Wednesday. Flores followed that with 12 digs and 31 assists in a four-set match against Cal Lutheran on Sunday. He currently ranks second in the NJAC in assists (9.61/set) and fifth in digs (2.17/set) for the year.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ALAITTIM DE LEON • New Jersey City University
Freshman • Middle Blocker • Santiago, Dominican Republic/Harrison
De Leon earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors after leading the Gothic Knights to a 3-0 week with a remarkable .619 hitting percentage. The freshman middle recorded 14 kills (1.75/set) on just 21 attempts with only one error across three matches, adding four blocks (0.50/set) and two aces (0.25/set). He was at his most efficient in Thursday's sweep of CCNY, hitting .750 with three kills on four errorless swings. De Leon also hit .600 with seven kills against York and .571 with four kills in a second meeting with CCNY on Saturday.
