PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its men's volleyball weekly award winners for the week ending March 15.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AMARU PERALES • New Jersey City University
Senior • Middle Blocker • Harrison, NJ / Harrison
Perales claims NJAC Player of the Week honors after one of the finest weeks in the country, recording 47 kills on a .551 hitting percentage with 15 total blocks across three matches. The senior middle blocker was at his best in a 3-1 win over Hunter, posting 18 kills on a .571 clip with six blocks, then followed with 16 kills on .500 hitting and four blocks in a five-set battle against Misericordia. Perales closed the week with 13 kills on a .591 percentage and three blocks in a sweep of John Jay, averaging 3.92 kills and 1.25 blocks per set on the week. He currently sports the NJAC’s best hitting percentage on the season (.401), and is ranked third in blocks (0.94/set), sixth in points (3.25/set) and aces (0.31/set), and eighth in kills (2.40/set).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AIDAN FLINN • Kean University
Senior • Outside Hitter • East Northport, NY / East Northport
Flinn earns NJAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition after posting 45 digs and eight blocks across four matches, helping Kean go 3-1 on the week. The senior outside hitter was particularly effective in the back row in a five-set win over UC Santa Cruz, recording 14 digs, and matched that effort with 17 digs in a five-set loss to Aurora. Flinn also contributed offensively throughout the week, tallying 32 kills on a .209 hitting percentage with two service aces, including a standout .875 hitting effort in a sweep of Wabash. Flinn currently ranks fourth among NJAC players in digs (2.28/set) for the season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
CADEN KRZYZAK • Kean University
Freshman • Middle Blocker • Vernon, NJ / Sussex County Tech
Krzyzak garners NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time after totaling 14 kills on a .391 hitting percentage with 10 blocks across three matches in Kean's 3-1 week. The freshman middle blocker was at his best in a sweep of Wabash, recording six kills on a .556 clip with two blocks, and added five kills on .500 hitting in a five-set win over UC Santa Cruz. He posted a week-high six blocks in a five-set win over Baldwin Wallace. Krzyzak currently leads all NJAC players with 1.08 blocks per set for the season.
