Kean Sweeps NJAC Men's Volleyball Weekly Honors; Mitchell, Quinn, Krzyzak Honored

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its men's volleyball weekly award winners for the week ending Feb. 8.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CHRIS MITCHELL • Kean University
Senior • Outside Hitter • Howell, NJ/Howell
 
Mitchell is named NJAC Player of the Week after recording 51 kills on a .339 hitting percentage while adding 23 digs and eight blocks across three matches in a 2-1 week for the Cougars. The senior opened the week with 13 kills on a .419 hitting percentage alongside six digs and four blocks in a 3-0 conference sweep of NJCU on February 3. He followed with 15 kills and seven digs in a 3-1 victory over Misericordia on February 7, then posted a season-high 23 kills with 10 digs in a five-set battle against No. 8 NYU later that day. Mitchell averaged 4.25 kills, 1.92 digs, and 0.67 blocks per set for the week while contributing across multiple categories on both offense and defense. He currently leads the NJAC in kills (3.68/set) and points (4.24/set), and is fifth in hitting percentage (.318).
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TYLER QUINN • Kean University
Junior • Libero • Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley
 
Quinn earns NJAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition after totaling 36 digs (3.00/set) and seven assists while handling 70 receptions with just two errors in Kean's 2-1 week. The junior recorded 14 digs in a 3-0 conference victory over NJCU on February 3. He added eight digs in a 3-1 win over Misericordia on February 7, then posted 14 more digs with two reception errors in 39 attempts against No. 8 NYU later that day. Quinn leads all NJAC players by nearly a dig per set, averaging 3.74 per set on the season.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
CADEN KRZYZAK • Kean University
Freshman • Middle Blocker • Vernon, NJ/Sussex County Tech
 
Krzyzak is recognized as NJAC Rookie of the Week after recording 14 kills and 11 total blocks in Kean's 2-1 week. The freshman middle blocker posted seven kills on a .375 hitting percentage with five total blocks in a 3-0 conference sweep of NJCU on February 3. He added four kills against Misericordia on February 7, then contributed three kills and a career-high six total blocks against No. 8 NYU later that day. Krzyzak currently leads all NJAC players in total blocks (35) and blocks per set (1.17) on the young season.
