Montclair State's Morales, Kean's Dextraze and Jeffers-Viera Earn NJAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its men's basketball weekly award winners for the week ending Nov. 23.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JACOB MORALES • Montclair State University
Senior • Forward • Montvale, NJ/Pascack Hills
 
Morales claimed NJAC Player of the Week honors after a sensational performance in Montclair's 84-65 home win against a Gettysburg squad that is receiving votes in the national poll. He tallied 30 points on 63% shooting (12-for-19), including a scorching 67% from beyond the arc (6-for-9). Morales also led the Red Hawks with four steals while adding four rebounds and three assists in the victory. He currently leads the NJAC in 3-point percentage (51.4%), is second in scoring (25.5 ppg) and made 3-pointers per game (4.5), and third in overall field goal percentage (55.4%).
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DANIEL DEXTRAZE • Kean University
Junior • Forward • Asbury, NJ/North Hunterdon
 
Dextraze claimed NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after dominating the glass during a 1-1 week, averaging 12.5 rebounds per game. He collected eight rebounds in a loss to Alvernia, then delivered a dominant 17-rebound performance while adding a steal and a block in a win over Baruch. For the week, he totaled 25 rebounds (20 defensive) while also contributing six points in each game. The junior currently leads the NJAC in rebounding (10.8 rpg) and is fourth in free throw percentage (84.6%).
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MALACHI JEFFERS-VIERA • Kean University
Freshman • Forward • Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North
 
Jeffers-Viera was named NJAC Rookie of the Week after averaging 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 2.0 assists during a 1-1 week for the Cougars. He tallied 11 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and a block against Alvernia, then contributed 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal, and three blocks in a win over Baruch. The rookie is currently second among all NJAC players with 1.3 blocks per game.
