MSU's Morales, Kean's Dextraze, Rutgers-Newark's Murray Earn NJAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its men's basketball weekly award winners for the week ending Dec. 7.
 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JACOB MORALES • Montclair State University
Senior • Forward • Montvale, NJ/Pascack Hills
 
Morales claimed NJAC Player of the Week honors after averaging a double-double with 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds while adding eight assists, six steals, and two blocks during a 2-0 conference week for Montclair State. He erupted for 29 points, seven rebounds, six assists, four steals, and two blocks in a 102-75 win against William Paterson on Wednesday. He followed that with a double-double of 18 points and a career-high 13 rebounds along with two steals and two assists to lead the Red Hawks to an 87-74 victory at Rutgers-Newark on Saturday.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DANIEL DEXTRAZE • Kean University
Junior • Forward • Asbury, NJ/North Hunterdon
 
Dextraze earned NJAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition after averaging 10.0 rebounds, 6.0 steals, and 4.0 blocks while helping Kean to a 2-0 conference week. He recorded nine rebounds, five steals, and four blocks in a 65-58 win over Ramapo on Tuesday. He followed with 11 rebounds and one steal in a 68-64 victory against TCNJ on Friday. Dextraze also averaged 21.0 points and 7.0 assists on the week, completing a dominant all-around performance on both ends of the floor.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
RAHEEM MURRAY • Rutgers University-Newark
Freshman • Guard • East Orange, NJ/Pioneer Academy
 
Murray was named NJAC Rookie of the Week after averaging 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 10.0 assists during the week. He opened with a well-rounded performance of 21 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists against NJCU on Tuesday. He closed the week by tying his career high with 23 points while shooting 47 percent from the field and adding three rebounds and three assists against Montclair State on Saturday. Murray continues to be a scoring force in his first collegiate season for the Scarlet Raiders.
