PITMAN, NJ --- Christopher Newport University junior quarterback
Connor Barry (Vienna, VA/James Madison) and Rowan University senior linebacker
Anthony Henriquez (Hoboken, NJ/Hoboken) have been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player and Sam Mills Defensive Player of the Year to headline an impressive slate of award winners and all-conference honorees.
Additionally, Montclair State senior kicker
Roger Rubinetti (Morris Plains, NJ/Parsippany Hills) was tabbed NJAC Special Teams Player of the Year; Rowan first-year running back
Mordecai Ford (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) earned NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Year; Rowan first-year cornerback
Jaeden Everett (Millville, NJ/Millville) captured NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Year honors; and Christopher Newport head coach
Paul Crowley and his staff were voted the NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
In total, 81 student-athletes earned all-conference recognition for the fall 2025 season. All-conference and major award selections were determined by a vote of the league's eight head coaches and were based on conference-only performances.
Barry orchestrated one of the most prolific offenses in the NJAC this season, an offense that averaged 48.6 points per game in NJAC play, . The six-time NJAC Offensive Player of the Week led all conference quarterbacks with a 202.3 conference-only passer efficiency rating while completing 69.5 percent of his passes for 1,775 yards and 22 touchdowns against just two interceptions in NJAC play. He also contributed 189 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. He averaged 253.6 passing yards and 27.0 rushing yards per game and threw at least two touchdown passes in every NJAC contest. His overall passer efficiency rating of 209.0 is second nationally among QBs in all NCAA divisions. Barry's balanced dual-threat ability helped power CNU to a perfect 7-0 conference record and an overall 10-0 mark, earning the Captains a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament.
Henriquez, a Week 11 NJAC Defensive Player of the Week and D3football.com Team of the Week honoree, finished the season as one of the most dominant defensive forces in the NJAC. He finished second in the conference with 66 total tackles in NJAC-only games, recording 31 solo stops. Henriquez also ranked among the conference leaders with 6.5 tackles for loss and added 2.5 sacks, an interception, a pass breakup, and a forced fumble. His consistency was evident throughout the season, recording double-digit tackles in four of seven conference games.
Rubinetti, a three-time NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week, served as the backbone of Montclair State's special teams unit. The senior kicker/punter converted 8-of-9 field goals in conference play with a long of 37 and was a perfect 21-for-21 on extra points, totaling 45 points. Rubinetti also handled kickoff duties, recording 42 kickoffs for 1,855 yards with an average of 44.2 yards per kick and no touchbacks. He punted 28 times for 1013 yards including pinning five inside the 20 and punting twice for 50+ yards.
Ford made an immediate splash in his first season with the Profs. The freshman running back ranked first among all NJAC rookies and second overall with an impressive 11.7 yards per carry in conference play. He totaled 257 rushing yards on just 22 carries with two touchdowns, including a 94-yard touchdown run that broke the record for longest rushing touchdown in program history. The three-time NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week also added a 62-yard reception for a touchdown.
Everett emerged as a playmaker in Rowan's secondary during his debut season as the freshman cornerback recorded two pick-sixes for 61 return yards including a 50-yard pick six against Castleton. The two-time NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week also scored on an 11-yard pick to go with two tackles as Rowan played to a three-point game against a Salisbury team that was ranked No. 4 in Division III. His selection marks the third straight year that the conference's top defensive rookie honor went to a Prof.
Crowley and assistants
Craig Smith, Eli Wicklund, Alex Smith, Tom Clark, Zbig Kepa, Tyler Palmer, Tyler Stevens, and
Hunter Dinsmoor orchestrated a remarkable season for Christopher Newport, guiding the Captains to a perfect 10-0 overall record and an unblemished 7-0 mark in NJAC play to capture the conference championship. Under their leadership, CNU dominated on both sides of the ball, outscoring NJAC opponents by an average margin of over 20 points per game. The Captains' exceptional season earned them a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament and they are ranked No. 6 nationally heading into the postseason. Crowley and his staff mentored 16 all-conference honorees including the Offensive Player of the Year in Connor Barry.
