Rutgers-Camden and the NJAC Mourn Freshman Goalie Julian Naumenko

CAMDEN, N.J. (Jan. 13, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden and NJAC community grieve for men's soccer player Julian Naumenko, who passed away Saturday in an automobile accident.
 
A freshman who served as one of the Scarlet Raptors' goalkeepers during the fall season, Naumenko was a soccer letterman at Archbishop Wood High School who graduated in 2024. He was a Nursing major at Rutgers-Camden from Hatboro, Pennsylvania.
 
"With a heavy heart and an overwhelming amount of sadness and grief, we announce the tragic passing of our teammate and brother Julian Naumenko," said Rutgers-Camden Head Coach Tim Oswald. "Beloved by all, Julian's character, charisma, commitment, and charm was an immediate staple within our program. In just a short amount of time with us on campus, Julian made lifelong impactful impressions with each of us and his legacy will always be found within us. We will miss his competitive spirit and infectious smile daily while always keeping his memory alive deep within the fabric of our program! Please keep his family and loved ones in your prayers." 
 
Services for Naumenko will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 6740 North 5th Street in Philadelphia, PA 19126. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m.
 
Naumenko will be buried at St. Andrew Cemetery in South Bound Brook, New Jersey.
