PITMAN, NJ --- Rowan University fifth-year senior Mia Guerra (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights) has been named the NJAC Runner of the Year while The College of New Jersey freshman Alyssa Maybeck (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) earned Rookie of the Year status.
 
Guerra and Maybeck highlight the 14-member NJAC women’s cross country all-conference team. All honors were determined based on placing at the championship meet, which was conducted at TCNJ’s Green Lane Fields on Saturday, Nov. 2.
 
Guerra becomes the 13th Prof woman to win the individual title and first since Dianne Ferraro in 2019. She is now a two-time First Team All-Conference performer with her fourth place finish last year and top time this year. Her time of 22:10 on the 6K course was the fastest NJAC championship time since 2017. Guerra was a Week 8 NJAC Runner of the Week this season.
 
Maybeck is the first Lion to earn Rookie of the Year honors since Salini Iyer in the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season. She finished 10th overall with a time of 23:20 and also earns Second Team All-Conference status. Maybeck was one of three Lion rookies to earn NJAC Rookie of the Week honors this season, garnering honors two weeks ago.
 
Rowan first-year head coach Shedrick Elliott III and Prof assistant Eric DuBois were named the NJAC Women’s Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year based on a vote of the league’s head coaches. They mentored the 2024 Profs to their seventh team title in program history and first since 2019. Under their guidance, Guerra earned Runner of the Year honors and a total of four Prof runners occupied the top five spots in the race.
