NJCU's Gutierrez and Boyd Earn NJAC Women's Cross Country Weekly Honors

PITMAN, NJ --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its women's cross country weekly honors for the week ending Nov. 7.


RUNNER OF THE WEEK
APRIL GUTIERREZ • New Jersey City University
Senior • Jersey City, NJ/William L. Dickinson

Gutierrez earns her second NJAC Runner of the Week honor after leading NJCU at the ECAC Division III Cross Country Championship in Milton, NY, on Saturday. She clocked a team-best 28:42 on the 6K course, taking 22nd place overall out of 67 runners in the meet. The Gothic Knights finished seventh in the team standings; St. Joseph’s (LI) won the meet with 24 points.


ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
NYLA BOYD • New Jersey City University
Freshman • Thomson, GA/Thomson

Boyd collects her first career honor as this week’s NJAC Rookie of the Week. The Thomson, GA, native clocked a 32:13 on the 6K course, finishing third among the Gothic Knights and 37th overall at the ECAC Cross Country Championship in upstate New York over the weekend. Boyd and the rest of the NJCU squad finished seventh in the team standings at the ECACs.
