NJAC Closes Out NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in Style; Wood Claims National Runner-Up, Five More All-Americans on Final Day

INDIANAPOLIS --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference closed out the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at the IU Natatorium with a flourish, capped by a national runner-up finish from Salisbury's Addi Wood and five more All-America performances to bring the curtain down on a memorable four-day meet.

TEAM STANDINGS — FINAL

On the men's side, TCNJ turned in one of the program's finest championship performances, finishing 11th overall with 117 points — a six-spot improvement from last year. Salisbury ended tied for 26th with 32 points and USMMA finished 34th with 20 points.

On the women's side, Kean led all NJAC programs and finished as the highest-ranking public school in the women's standings, placing 17th with 54 points. Salisbury finished 22nd with 24 points and Rowan ended 32nd with 15 points.

WOMEN

Salisbury's Addi Wood saved the best for last, turning in the greatest individual performance in Sea Gull program history. The junior from Virginia Beach, Va., finished second overall in the 1650 freestyle in 16:46.50 — over eight seconds better than the mark that won her the NJAC title in the event last month — to claim national runner-up honors and become the first individual First Team All-American in Salisbury women's swimming history. Wood finished behind only gold medalist Molly Haag of Kenyon (16:37.04) and well clear of third-place finisher Madeline Dunn of Tufts (16:52.42). The silver medal performance also makes Wood the highest-ever finisher at nationals in program history. Fueled by her 17 points, Salisbury finished the championship with 24 points and placed 22nd of 44 scoring teams — a 13-slot improvement from last season's 35th-place finish.

Kean's Olivia Chow added to her exceptional meet with a Second Team All-America performance in the 200 backstroke, finishing 11th overall in 2:00.25 — her third All-America honor of the championship.

Rowan's Ella Pennington just missed advancing to the 200 backstroke championship final, clocking 2:00.51 to place ninth in the preliminary session — one spot outside the cutoff for the evening's A final. The senior did not compete in the consolation final, closing out her Rowan career with a strong championship showing that contributed to the Profs' 32nd-place team finish.

Salisbury's Maddie Powell placed 31st in the 200 breaststroke at 2:22.06, and Rowan O'Donoghue finished 55th in the 100 freestyle at 52.42. Salisbury's 400 freestyle relay team of Rachel Rickabaugh, Lily Griffin, Alexa Hilty and Rowan O'Donoghue placed 24th in 3:31.13, while Kean's team of Braelyn Wilson, Olivia Chow, Emma Bellars and Sydney Stemley finished 21st in 3:29.51.

MEN

TCNJ capped a standout championship weekend with three more All-America performances on the final day, sending all nine of its swimmers home from Indianapolis with All-America honors. M.J. Hoban earned Second Team All-America recognition in the 100 freestyle, breaking the sub-44-second barrier for the first time in his career with a 43.88 in the prelims before clocking 43.97 in the final to place ninth overall.

Tyler McGeehan qualified for his first ever NCAA individual final in the 200 breaststroke, placing 16th in the prelims to claim the last spot in the consolation final and then improving one spot in the evening session to finish 15th in 2:00.88.

Gavin Formon capped his collegiate career in fitting fashion, becoming a four-year All-American with a 12th-place finish in the 1650 freestyle at 15:43.22 — the final swim of his career. TCNJ's 400 freestyle relay team of Steven Bendoraitis, Gabe Beverini, Joe McChesney and M.J. Hoban closed out the meet with an 18th-place finish in 3:01.02.
