Stockton's Panagopoylos, Clauss, and Staff, TCNJ's Knasiak Nab Major Awards as NJAC Softball All-Conference Announced

PITMAN --- Stockton University junior Alexa Panagopoylos (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) has been named the NJAC Softball Player of the Year and The College of New Jersey junior Maya Knasiak (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) is Pitcher of the Year to highlight the slate of all-conference honorees.

In addition, Stockton freshman Emily Clauss (Delanco, NJ/BCIT) earns Rookie of the Year honors, and Stockton head coach Mavreen Hering and her staff were voted the Dr. June Walker NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

Their selections headline the 36-member all-conference team, with selections based on a vote of the league's head coaches and taking into account conference-only performances.

Panagopoylos was one of the most dangerous offensive forces in the NJAC this season, leading the conference in hits (29) and doubles (11) while batting .468 with a .694 slugging percentage, .500 on-base percentage, and 1.194 OPS across 18 conference games. She drove in 22 runs — second in the conference — and contributed a .967 fielding percentage with four double plays turned at third base. Panagopoylos went a blistering 8-for-9 with four doubles and five RBI across a doubleheader at Rutgers-Newark in the regular season finale. She also posted four hits and three RBI against TCNJ, and drove in a combined four runs on 4-for-6 hitting across two wins over William Paterson. She was named NJAC Player of the Week in Week 8.

Knasiak was nearly untouchable in the circle this season, establishing herself as the most dominant strikeout pitcher in the NJAC. She led the NJAC in conference-only strikeouts (66) and opposing batting average (.138) while posting a 1.24 ERA across 56.1 innings with four complete game shutouts and six complete games among her seven NJAC wins. She also caught batters looking at the highest rate in the conference and whiffed five or more in every conference start this season. Overall on the season, she registered double-digit Ks on six occasions and racked up 166 strikeouts. At the plate, Knasiak was equally dangerous, ranking second in the NJAC in conference-only slugging percentage (.773) with four home runs, 17 RBI, and a .386 batting average. She was a four-time NJAC Pitcher of the Week this season.

Clauss had one of the most impactful freshman seasons in the NJAC, posting a .417 conference-only batting average with five doubles, three home runs, and 17 RBI while slugging .708 across 16 games. She put together an OPS of 1.208 to rank third in the league. Taking on one of the field's toughest positions as a rookie, she contributed a .956 fielding percentage with four double plays turned at shortstop. Clauss saved some of her biggest moments for conference play, going 3-for-3 with 3 RBI and a home run against Ramapo, and delivering a monster performance at Rutgers-Newark with seven RBI including a home run. She earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors in Week 8.

Stockton head coach Mavreen Hering and her staff including Abby Mace, Joe Costantini, Michelle Neveling, and Alexis Bermudez were voted the Dr. June Walker NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year by their peers. Hering guided the Ospreys to a 30-6 overall record and a 16-2 mark in NJAC play — good for Stockton's first-ever NJAC regular season title in program history. The Ospreys ended the regular season among the top 20 of the NCAA Power Index and placed five players on the all-conference first team, including Player of the Year Alexa Panagopoylos and Rookie of the Year Emily Clauss.
