GLASSBORO, NJ --- Rowan University advanced to the NJAC Women's Soccer Championship final after defeating The College of New Jersey 3-1 in a penalty kick shootout following a scoreless 110-minute marathon on November 4, 2025, at the Rowan Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
After regulation and two overtime periods failed to produce a goal, the match was decided from the penalty spot. Rowan converted three of four attempts with goals from Angela Oliveto, Lianna SanFelice, and Sara Wiedeman. TCNJ's only successful penalty kick came from Alyssa Alfano.
The Profs (14-1-3) dominated possession throughout, outshooting TCNJ 22-4 and holding a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. Rowan's relentless pressure resulted in seven corner kicks compared to just two for the Lions.
TCNJ goalkeeper Ellen Williams kept her team in the match with a heroic performance, making nine saves including a crucial stop on a Sara Wiedeman penalty kick in the 33rd minute of the first half.
Rowan's Leah Edinger had a relatively quiet evening with just two saves but came up big in the shootout, stopping three of four TCNJ attempts to send her team to the championship.
With the victory, Rowan advances to face top-seeded Montclair State in the championship game on Friday, November 7, at 7 p.m. at MSU Soccer Park.
