PITMAN, NJ --- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced its All-Region 4 teams and major award winners, with eight NJAC players earning First Team honors, two more earning Honorable Mention, and Kean sweeping the regional major awards.
Kean setter Aspen O'Brien was named the Region IV Player of the Year, freshman outside hitter Ashley Torok collected Freshman of the Year honors, and head coach Don Perkins was tabbed as Coach of the Year. The Cougars captured both the NJAC regular season and tournament championships and are headed to the NCAA tournament.
All-Region honors take into account both conference and nonconference performances throughout the entire campaign.
O'Brien, who also earned First Team All-Region 4 recognition, led the NJAC in assists per set at 10.57 and ranked fifth in the conference in service aces per set (0.43).
Torok ranked second in the NJAC in both kills per set (3.80) and points per set (4.40) points, and contributed 52 service aces along with 244 digs (2.14 per set).
Additional NJAC representation on the First Team All-Region 4 roster includes:
- Abigail Chadwick, Rowan University (RS, Jr.) – Chadwick ranked seventh in the NJAC in hitting percentage (.275), 15th in kills per set (2.62), third in assists per set (9.31), and first in service aces per set (0.74).
- Bella Demers, William Paterson University (L, So.) – Demers led the NJAC in digs per set at 5.06, recording 572 total digs across 113 sets.
- Kate Louer, Stockton University (OH, Sr.) – Louer ranked third in the conference in kills per set (3.75) and fifth in points per set (4.20) with a .285 hitting percentage.
- Cayley Elena Morrison, Kean University (MH, Jr.) – Morrison led the conference in both hitting percentage (.391) and blocks per set (1.08) while ranking sixth in kills per set (3.47) and fourth in points per set (4.22).
- Nicole Palmer, Stockton University (RS, Jr.) – Palmer ranked 10th in the NJAC in kills per set (3.09) and ninth in points per set (3.67).
- Jessica Smart, Rowan University (OH, Fr.) – Smart finished fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.61) and eighth in points per set (3.77), recording 339 kills across 94 sets.
NJAC student-athletes earning Honorable Mention All-Region 4 recognition include:
- Madeline Dohogne, Kean University (L, Sr.) – Dohogne ranked fifth in the NJAC in both digs per set (3.86) and service aces per set (0.58), recording 425 digs across 110 sets.
- Kristian Glenn, William Paterson University (RS, Jr.) – Glenn placed fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.301) and recorded 2.24 kills per set with 235 total kills.
