Troiano's Goal, Holiday's Shutout Push Rowan Past Bridgewater State, 1-0, and into the NCAA Second Round

Profs to face #11 Wesleyan on Sunday at 1 p.m.

MIDDLETOWN, CT - Johnny Troiano's second-half goal gave Rowan a 1-0 win over Bridgewater State in the 2025 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship first round played at Wesleyan. The Profs, on a seven-game winning streak, move on to face the host team, #11 Wesleyan, on Sunday in the Second Round at 1:00 PM.

Troiano took a long pass from Luke McNamee outside the box on the left side and then connected from a tough angle, putting the ball into the far side of the net at 67:42. It was the senior's 18th goal of the season, which is a career-high.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the first half, although Rowan (16-3-4) held a 9-3 edge in shots. The teams each had eight shots in the second half, but both goalkeepers made four stops apiece.

Rowan's Travis Holiday made five saves to record his sixth shutout of the season, and his fourth consecutive. In the last four matches, Rowan has won by an identical 1-0 score.

Wesleyan advanced to the Second Round with an 8-1 win over Lehman in the first match of the day.

The NJAC Champion Profs will be making their first appearance in the Second Round since 2022.

The winner of Sunday's match moves on to next weekend's Third Round with Emory, Otterbein and Hampden-Sydney as possible opponents.
