PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's soccer weekly honors for the week ending Oct. 5.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LOGAN SHAW • Stockton University
Senior • Forward • Hainesport, NJ/Rancocas Valley
Shaw earns NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for her stellar performance for Stockton last week. She scored three goals during a 1-0-1 week for the Ospreys, including two strikes in Stockton's first victory over TCNJ since 2008. The senior forward has been on fire with five goals in her last five games, adding another goal in a 2-2 draw with NJCU to cap off an impressive week. Shaw is currently tied for second in the NJAC with six goals this year.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JULIANNA GIORDANO • Rowan University
Senior • Defender • Millville, NJ/Millville
Giordano picks up her first NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season for anchoring a Rowan defense that posted two clean sheets against NJAC opponents while contributing offensively in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Rutgers-Camden. The senior defender tallied her first points of the season with a goal and assist in the win. She anchored a back line that held the Scarlet Raptors without a shot after helping secure a 1-0 shutout at NJCU earlier in the week.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
STEPHANIE MONROE • Kean University
Freshman • Midfielder • Marlton, NJ/Cherokee
Monroe is named NJAC Rookie of the Week for the first time after she delivered the game-winning goal in Kean's 2-1 victory over Ramapo on Saturday, marking her first career goal. She also provided an assist on Kean’s lone goal in a setback to Montclair State earlier in the week. The freshman midfielder totaled three points on the week with all three of her shots finding the target. She is up to five points on one goal and three helpers in her first season.
