Rowan's Giordano, WPU's Mantilla, Rutgers-Camden's Lizardi Earn NJAC Women's Soccer Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's soccer weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 7.
 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
OLIVIA GIORDANO • Rowan University
Senior • Forward • Millville, NJ / Millville
 
Giordano was named NJAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading Rowan to a 3-0 week with three goals and two assists. The senior forward tallied the game-winner in the 85th minute of a 1-0 victory over Salisbury, and also contributed a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over St. Mary’s. She opened the week by factoring into both goals in a 3-0 win over Albright with a score and an assist. Giordano finished the week with eight points while pacing the Profs’ attack, and is now the NJAC scoring leader on the young season.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SARAH MANTILLA • William Paterson University
Senior • Goalkeeper • Fair Lawn, NJ / Fair Lawn
 
Mantilla was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week after a busy week in goal for the Pioneers. The senior totaled 21 saves while allowing just one goal across two matches, helping William Paterson to a 1-1 week. She became the program’s all-time leader in career saves with 320 after a five-stop outing against Wilkes, and followed with a season-high 16 saves in a 2-0 road victory at FDU-Florham. Mantilla now owns two shutouts on the season and has anchored a defense that has allowed just one goal over the last three matches.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
GISELLE LIZARDI • Rutgers-Camden
Freshman • Goalkeeper • Brick, NJ / Brick Memorial
 
Lizardi earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors after turning in her second straight shutout for Rutgers-Camden. The freshman goalkeeper made 13 saves in a 0-0 draw at Swarthmore, tying for the 12th-highest single-game total in program history while facing 33 shots. The effort gave Lizardi back-to-back shutouts as she has racked up 16 saves without yielding a single goal in her first two collegiate matches.
