Rowan Athletics Earns Fourth Consecutive NJAC Cup and Sixth Overall

Profs' major award winners honored at conference's annual Awards Brunch

PRINCETON, NJ –  Rowan University Athletics is the recipient of the 2023-24 NJAC Cup, earning the conference's award for the fourth consecutive season and the sixth time in the seven years that it has been presented.

The NJAC Cup recognizes overall success for an institution's athletic program during the year of conference competition. It was presented at the conference's annual Awards Brunch held at the Hyatt Regency, which also honored the league's major award winners from the year.

In 2023-24, the Profs earned points by winning regular-season titles in women's soccer, field hockey, men's basketball and softball, and capturing the NJAC Championship meets in men's cross country, men's indoor track & field and men's outdoor track & field. Rowan accumulated 85.7 percent of the possible points based on sports sponsorship to finish at the top of the standings.

Rowan's winning total was also aided by second-place finishes from the men's soccer, women's swimming, men's swimming, women's indoor track & field, women's lacrosse and women's outdoor track & field. Although not counting for points in the standings, the Profs' field hockey and softball teams also won conference crowns in the post-season tournament.

Rowan Athletics previously earned the NJAC Cup in 2022-23, 2021-22, 2018-19 and 2016-17, as well as the inaugural award in 2015-16. The Cup was not presented in 2019-20 or 2020-21 as the seasons were incomplete due to the pandemic.

In the year-long competition, each full-member institution is scored based on its finish in the final regular season standings or in the championship meet (for cross country, track & field) in each of the 21 sports that are sponsored by the conference. The number of points awarded in each sport is determined by the number of conference participants in that sport. The total number of points earned by each school is divided by the total number of points possible based on a school's sport sponsorship pattern to determine a percentage. The institution with the highest percentage at the end of the academic year is awarded the NJAC Cup.
