NJCU's DaSilva and Pardasie, Ramapo's Meyer Earn NJAC Men's Volleyball Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its men's volleyball honors for the week ending Feb. 25.
 


PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BRANDON DaSILVA • New Jersey City University
5th Year • Middle Blocker • Kearny, NJ/Kearny
 
DaSilva is named NJAC Player of the Week after an historic week for the NJCU program. For the first time in program history, NJCU defeated NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark, as the Gothic Knights took down the Scarlet Raiders on the road on Wednesday night in four sets. DaSilva was the centerpiece of the win as he led all players in total points (19.0), finishing with a team-high-tying 11 kills without a single error on 15 swings (.733 hitting percentage) to go with three digs, two assists, an ace and a career- and game-best 11 total blocks as a dominant force at the net. DaSilva currently leads the NJAC in hitting percentage (.413) and blocks (1.08/set), is second in points (3.83/set), and fifth in both kills (2.81/set) and aces (0.36/set).


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOJO MEYER • Ramapo College
Junior • Setter • Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst
 
Meyer is named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week after helping Ramapo split a pair of matches, including posting a 3-0 sweep of Russell Sage. He scooped a team-high 13 digs (2.17/set) last week while dishing out a team-high 55 assists (9.17/set). He also added two kills, two aces, and a block. Meyer nabbed eight digs to do with 30 assists in the win over Sage. He added five digs and 25 assists in a setback to Nichols on the same day. Meyer currently ranks third in the NJAC in assists (7.81/set) and sixth in digs (1.71/set).


ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MARCUS PARDASIE • New Jersey City University
Freshman • Outside Hitter • Paramus, NJ/Cresskill
 
Pardasie maintains his hold on the NJAC Rookie of the Week award, garnering the honor for the fourth straight week. He was once again a major contributor for the Gothic Knights, helping NJCU to its first-ever win over Rutgers-Newark in program history in Wednesday night’s 3-1 road victory. The rookie had a team-high-tying 11 kills and five errors on 23 swings (.261 hitting percentage) to with four digs and two blocks. Pardasie currently ranks third in the NJAC in hitting percentage (.241), fourth in kills (2.89/set), sixth in points (3.32/set), and ninth in service aces (0.25/set).
