PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its men's volleyball weekly honors for the week ending March 27.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DUNCAN BEILKE • Kean University
Senior • Outside Hitter • Madison, WI/Madison West
Beilke becomes the first Kean player this season to earn NJAC Player of the Week honors after totaling 74.0 points, 63 kills, 17 digs and nine blocks over five matches this past week. The Madison, WI, native averaged 4.93 points per set, 4.20 kills per set, 1.13 digs per set, 0.60 blocks per set and a .274 hitting percentage in the Cougars’ 5-1 week. He posted double-digit kills in four of the five matches, with a week high 20 in a three-set sweep of Drew. He added 12 each against No. 6 Southern Virginia and Eastern Mennonite, and 10 against St. Elizabeth. Beilke ranks fourth in the NJAC in kills (3.49/set) and points (4.11/set).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BRANDON DASILVA • New Jersey City University
Junior • Middle Blocker • Kearny, NJ/Kearny
DaSilva earns his second NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honor after helping NJCU go 4-0 as the squad swept all four of their matches. The junior tri-captain led the Gothic Knights in blocks (8) and blocks/set (1.00) despite not playing every set this week, adding six digs, four aces, and 19 kills (2.38/set) with just five errors on 28 swings (.500 hitting percentage). He started off with three kills on four swings and added a match-high-tying four total blocks and a dig in the 3-0 win at CMSV. He then notched nine kills and one error on 12 swings (.667) in the sweep at Purchaset, adding two digs and a match-high-tying three total blocks. DaSilva closed out his week on Saturday at home, finishing with seven kills, a match-high-tying four aces, a block and three digs in another 3-0 win over Purchase.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ANTHONY TRIVERS • New Jersey City University
Freshman • Outside Hitter • Washington Twp., NJ/Washington Twp.
Trivers becomes the second Gothic Knight this season to earn NJAC Rookie of the Week honors, joining Week 1 winner Mike McGehee. Trivers saw career-high playing time in NJCU’s 4-0 week, starting three matches and playing in 10 of the 12 sets. He led the team in kills (34) and kills/set (3.40), notching just four errors on 58 swings for an astounding .517 hitting percentage. Trivers also finished second on the team in aces (6) and led NJCU with 36 serve receptions without a single receiving error. He also led NJCU in points (42.5) and points/set (4.25) to go with 15 digs (1.50/set) and five total blocks (0.50/set). Trivers posted a career-best 13 kills in a sweep of St. Joseph’s Brooklyn, and hit .500 or better in all four matches.
