PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its women's soccer weekly honors for the week ending September 26.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KIM BRITES • New Jersey City University
Sophomore • Forward • Carteret, NJ/Carteret
Brites earns her first NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season after exploding for 11 points on five goals and an assist in NJCU’s 2-1 week. She registered her first career hat trick in a 5-2 win over CCNY, marking her first three goals of the season. She followed up with two more goals and a helper in a 5-0 blanking of Brooklyn College. With her five goals, she catapulted up the NJAC rankings and is tied for second in the conference in overall goals.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TARA LAMBERT • Montclair State University
Sophomore • Back • Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick
Lambert earns NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping Montclair State to a pair of wins last week. She tallied her first collegiate goal in the Red Hawks’ 3-1 nonconference win over Farmingdale State on Tuesday, also helping the back line limit the Rams to just five shots on goal. She also contributed to a clean sheet against NJCU on Saturday, holding the Gothic Knights to just one shot. The Red Hawk defense has surrendered just two shots in two conference games so far this season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
JULIA MASUCCI • Kean University
Freshman • Goalkeeper • Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood
Masucci collects her first career weekly honors, earning Rookie of the Week. The goalkeeper played 155 minutes between the pipes without allowing a goal this week. She made nine saves in the effort. In 45 minutes of action against Marywood, she stopped four shots. She faced 14 shots and made five saves to earn the shutout in a scoreless draw with defending regular season champion Rutgers-Camden.
