NJCU's Rodriguez, Ramapo's Thompson Earn NJAC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its women's basketball weekly honors for the week ending Nov. 14.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DAMARIS RODRIGUEZ • New Jersey City University
Sophomore • Guard • Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus

Rodriguez, the reigning NJAC Rookie of the Year and Metro Writers Player of the Year, collects her first weekly honor of the young season. Rodriguez loaded up the stat sheet in NJCU’s one and only game last week, the Gothic Knights’ season-opening 97-31 home victory over St. Elizabeth on Thursday night. The sophomore finished with 19 points, a game-high 16 steals, a game-best nine assists and seven rebounds, just one dime off a triple-double and edging close to a quadruple-double. The nine helpers and seven boards both tie career highs; the career-best 16 steals sets a program record and is just four off the all-time Division III mark.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
JADA THOMPSON • Ramapo College
Freshman • Guard • Sicklerville, NJ/Hammonton

Thompson earns her first career weekly honor after a stellar collegiate debut last week. She averaged 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds across a pair of wins for the Roadrunners. In her debut game, she poured in 22 points on 10-for-14 shooting and added nine rebounds in a 90-51 win over Sarah Lawrence. She added nine points and eight more rebounds in Ramapo’s 86-53 road win at Centenary.
