Class of 2020 Spotlight: Stockton Baseball

The New Jersey Athletic Conference honors the seniors across all of our spring sports who had their seasons painfully cut short by the global pandemic, but whose dedication, perseverance, and passion for their sport, their academics, and their institution over the last four years was nothing short of admirable. Thank You Seniors, and congratulations and best wishes to the Class of 2020!

TYLER APT

"A constant presence out of the bullpen, Tyler has been the stopper for us in many big game situations.  He has never been shy about wanting the ball in a big spot and his competitiveness is off the charts.  Tyler has a great sense of humor and knows how to keep his teammates loose. He has been a mentor to our younger players and we will miss his leadership."

JOSLIN CARINO

"Gabby truly enjoyed being around his teammates and being on the field each and every day.  He is the player who constantly had a smile on his face and always kept a positive attitude.  His approach to learn and grow as a player was evident, as he was constantly seeking feedback from players and coaches alike on areas he could improve.  His attitude, effort and experiences will serve him well in the future. "

MIKE DESENZO

"It has been a pleasure work with Mike.  He has been a starter and contributor to our program all four years.  He is a driven worker and his focus and attention to detail will serve him well in his future endeavors.  Along with being a tremendous competitor on the field, he is also an outstanding student in the classroom."

---Head Coach Rich Gawlak

BRANDAN GOMEZ

"Brandan has been a pleasure to be around on a daily basis.  His leadership behind the plate served as a calming influence to his teammates and our pitching staff.  One of the most outstanding teammates I’ve had the pleasure to coach, he truly embraced and displayed the team first mentality we talk about on a daily basis."

---Head Coach Rich Gawlak

MARCO MELEO

"Marco is one of the more charismatic players I’ve had the pleasure to coach.  He is a true student of the game and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who enjoys being on the field with his teammates more than him.  He was our table setter and fixture at the top of our lineup and he provided the team with confidence the second he stepped up to the plate.  "

---Head Coach Rich Gawlak

RYAN MOORE

"Ryan has battled many injury obstacles during his career, but no matter what was thrown his way he just continued to bounce back.  Despite the setbacks he endured throughout his career, Ryan found opportunities to make himself a better player and leader.  He always tried to help others learn and he was an extension of the coaching staff in the bullpen as well as any time he toed the rubber."

---Head Coach Rich Gawlak

GARRHET REEDY

"Garrhet is a true leader by example; his quiet confidence will be hard to replace.  Although he is somewhat soft spoken, his competitiveness was on display each day. A key contributor during his four years and a first team all conference selection in 2018, we watched him blossom into an outstanding defensive catcher that helped inspire confidence in our pitching staff anytime an opponent reached base."

---Head Coach Rich Gawlak

ANDREW SLINGER

"Drew has been a great teammate and contributor to our program over the last couple of years. His desire to become the best player and teammate was evident each day he arrived to the field. His team-first approach as well as his leadership will not easily be replaced."

---Head Coach Rich Gawlak

RICO VIANI

"Rico has been the constant example of perseverance for our team. He has battled injuries throughout his career but has always battled to be on the field with his teammates. He really stepped into a leadership role for us this season and was on his way to establishing himself as a top player in the conference, as both a hitter and pitcher."
