Week 4 NJAC Football Weekly Honors Announced

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its football weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 28.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CONNOR BARRY • Christopher Newport University
Junior • Quarterback • Vienna, VA/James Madison

Barry claimed his second NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season following his stellar performance in Christopher Newport's 41-27 upset of 13th-ranked Susquehanna. He completed 17 of 30 passes for 374 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score. The junior signal-caller's one-yard touchdown plunge in the fourth quarter gave the Captains a two-score cushion that proved decisive. Barry now leads Division III in pass efficiency and has thrown 12 touchdowns against just one interception this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JAMES NEVELS • William Paterson University
Senior • Defensive Back • Wilmington, DE/Delaware Military Academy

Nevels becomes the second Pioneer this season to earn NJAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition after his game-changing performance in William Paterson's 38-14 road victory at Moravian. He recorded eight tackles while returning two interceptions for touchdowns covering 138 total yards. The senior defensive back's pair of pick-sixes marked the first time this season and just the second time in his career that he recorded multiple interceptions in a single game, directly accounting for 14 points in the Pioneers' dominant win.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MORDECAI FORD • Rowan University
Freshman • Wide Receiver • Toms River, NJ/Toms River North

Ford secured NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades after providing a spark in the return game during Rowan's 34-23 victory at Lycoming, returning three kickoffs for 133 yards. His explosive returns of 56 and 59 yards set up favorable field position and momentum for the Profs, with his 59-yard return to open the third quarter directly leading to a Rowan touchdown. Ford was an Offensive Rookie of the Week award recipient earlier this month.

OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
DREVYON THARRINGTON • Christopher Newport University
Freshman • Running Back • Norfolk, VA/Granby

Tharrington was named NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week after pacing the Captains' ground attack in CNU's 41-27 victory over 13th-ranked Susquehanna, rushing for 57 yards on nine carries while averaging a stellar 6.3 yards per attempt. The freshman from Norfolk also hauled in one reception for six yards as the Captains improved to 3-0 on the season with the upset victory.

DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
EZRA WILLIAMS-THOMAS • Rowan University
Freshman • Defensive Back • Willingboro, NJ/Moorestown

Williams-Thomas received NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week distinction after recording his first collegiate interception while posting five tackles (three solo) in Rowan's 34-23 victory at Lycoming. The freshman defensive back made his presence felt in the secondary as part of a Rowan defense that limited the Warriors to just 99 rushing yards on the day.
